New Clients: Clients new to Kinesis need to start with the New Client Starter Package of 6 privates for $325. Two privates will be spent on each piece of equipment used in classes--reformer, tower, and chair. Then clients are welcome to continue with privates or begin group classes, or do a combination of the two.
Cancellations: Private sessions must be canceled on MindBody by 8pm the previous night. Classes may be cancelled on MindBody up to one hour prior to their start. No shows and late cancels are charged the full price of the lesson.
How to chose the right program for you:
If you are experiencing pain - If you are in pain or have a specific health condition you'd like to address, a 10-pack of privates scheduled weekly or biweekly is recommended. You'll make the fastest progress with individualized attention and detailed lesson planning.
If you are interested in trying Pilates, or have done it for a brief time already - The New Client Special is perfect for you. It includes six privates to teach you basic Pilates principles and good biomechanics, as well as to familiarize you with how to use the equipment (reformer, tower, and chair) in a class setting. In these six privates, your instructor will identify your movement patterns and teach you strategies for how to address them in class settings. Starting with the New Client Special will maximize your success in Pilates and the changes in your body.
If you have done Pilates at another studio for years - Depending on where and how you trained previously, you may be ready to jump right into classes. But the majority of students will benefit from the New Client Special. Even if you understand classical Pilates exercises and sequence well, the six private sessions will help you better understand your body and how to self correct in a class setting. If you'd like to increase athletic performance - If you are an athlete looking to enhance you performance in your sport, a 10-pack of privates scheduled weekly or biweekly is recommended. Once your biomechanics are improved, classes will be a good way to maintain your changes.
If you're nervous about buying a package but are curious - Kinesis Pilates is designed to help you move better. This requires commitment from you and in return, you will get commitment to your change from Kinesis. But if you are still tentative, try purchasing a single private lesson to try it out.
For most clients - For most clients, a combination of privates and group classes is best. Privates allow for customized, individual instruction specific to your body and goals, and private clients are given access to studio equipment for 20 minutes either prior to or following each private (provided the studio is open and equipment is available). Most clients schedule privates at least twice per month and up to twice per week. Classes allow you to develop more responsibility over your own Pilates practice, while offering socialization, quicker tempo, and affordability.
How to chose the right CLASS for you:
Once you have completed your initial six privates, you are ready for classes! Picking the right level class is important for your success.
Beginner classes - Almost all new clients will want to start here, even if you have done Pilates before.
Beginner/intermediate classes - These classes teach the beginner work but start layering intermediate exercises to prepare you to take intermediate classes.
Intermediate classes - Intermediate classes at Kinesis are likely more challenging than the typical intermediate Pilates class at most studios, especially on the reformer. To take an intermediate reformer class, you should be comfortable performing teaser frequently throughout the class to transition between exercises. Intermediate mat/tower classes require a lot of abdominal strength and stamina. Intermediate reformer requires an understanding of the exercise order and transitions, and is only recommended after mastering beginner and beginner/intermediate reformer. If you're unsure, check with an instructor about best fit.
Int/Adv classes - If you are interested in trying a Int/Adv class, please check with an instructor to ensure it is an appropriate class for you. Generally, most students will need several months of Intermediate classes at Kinesis to be ready for these.
